The Policy, Legislation and Compliance (PLC) Subcommittee is responsible to address the core requirements of the Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA) and Wisconsin-specific policy and legislative changes needed to maintain compliance with the JJDPA.Â
The JJDPA defines core requirements that must be monitored for compliance:
- Deinstitutionalization of Status Offenders (DSO) RequirementÂ
- Removing Juveniles Charged as Adults Requirement: Sect.223(a)(11)(B) in the Interest of Justice
- Separation: Sight or Sound Separation of Juveniles from Adult Inmates Requirement (SS)
- Jail Removal Requirement: Removal of Juveniles from Adult Jails and Lockups (JR)
- Reduction of Racial and Ethnic Disparities (R/ED)
This subcommittee also develops policy and legislative recommendations for full-commission approval.
